Is DownloadFundraiser.com authorized to offer music and video downloads?
Yes, DownloadFundraiser.com and SharkGroove.com are authorized and licensed to sell Internet music, video and ring tone downloads. DownloadFundraiser.com's service offers a safe and responsible alternative to illegal file-sharing. Students, as well as their friends and family, can now enjoy an innovative and legal way to download their favorite music, videos and ring tones while simultaneously helping to support their school, church and/or community.
What is SharkGroove?
SharkGroove is our music, video, and ringtone download store. Once you sign up, you will be given your very own SharkGroove URL in the form of www.SharkGroove.com/OrganizationName. You can tour SharkGroove's main download page at www.SharkGroove.com.
Are the lyrics safe?
Yes, we do not offer explicit lyrics. The previously explicit songs are available in their edited versions, and the lyrical content is similar to how it would be heard on the radio.
Are the downloads legal?
All of our content is 100% legal. Download Fundraiser is authorized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The RIAA is responsible for the creating, manufacturing, and distributing of 90% of all legitimate sound recordings produced and sold in the United States. How much does it cost to get started?
There are absolutely no fees whatsoever, no hidden costs, and no purchasing of materials. Your organization can choose to participate as little or as much as possible with no obligation!
What file formats does your service support?
MP3 format as well as Windows Media Audio (WMA) & Windows Media Video (WMV).
How does the sound quality compare to an actual music CD?
Download Fundraiser offers mp3 and WMA formats at 128kbps. These audio formats are compressed from the CD formats, and are comparable in quality.
How much money can my school or church expect to earn?
Given that the fast growing music download market is doubling in size every year and is expected to reach $1 billion in 2008 the future looks bright for download fundraisers. That said, your organization must first 'get the word out' about your exciting new fundraiser. We recommend using our FREE customizable marketing materials / letters. In addition, please use our FREE image library to help prominently display a link from your organization's website to your online download store. Once you've taken the previous steps your organization should benefit from this year round fundraiser with minimal, if any, maintenance.
How does Download Fundraiser calculate the Download and Advertising Profit?
Download Profit = (Download Sales Price - Record Label Licensing Fee - Bank Transaction Fee) x 50%
Advertising Profit = (Advertising Revenue - Advertising Agency Sales Commission) x 50%
Is it difficult and/or time consuming to set-up and maintain our free online download store?
No, in fact we do all the work. Once we activate your online store (usually within 1 business day of registering with us) simply place a prominent link to it from your organization's main website and begin promoting it to your students and their families using the FREE customizable marketing letters, FREE color posters and FREE image library.
Can I change my URL after it's generated?
Yes, you have 24 hours after your original registration to send us a URL change request. To do this, you simply need to send an e-mail to info@DownloadFundraiser.com with the subject "URL Change Request". The body should contain your organization name, generated URL, and requested URL in the form of http://www.SharkGroove.com/(NewURL).*Please do not use illegal characters or spaces when creating a new URL.
Can I use Windows Media Audio (WMA) on my iPod?
With iTunes for Windows 4.5, you can import unprotected Windows Media Audio (WMA) files to your library.
Apple users with iTunes must follow these easy steps:
1) Save each WMA download to your PC.
2) Find a blank CDR and Burn a music CD (in CDA file format).
3) Rip the CD onto your computer, and import the music from your CD into iTunes.
4) Update your iPod!
Can our school or church upload and sell our own recordings?
We are exploring the possibility of permitting local bands, school bands, church choirs and other artists to upload and sell original music and/or videos of their own through DownloadFundraiser.com. However, at this time we are still sorting out the copyright and censorship issues to ensure a safe and fair 'upload' community and therefore currently do not offer uploading capabilities.
